Objective

The PET Project is to provide professional development and training for settlement service workers, with a view to increasing skills, knowledge and capacity to deliver client services.

Through the Professional Education and Training (PET) Project, supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, OCASI is able to offer support for individual and in-house group training for staff from settlement service agencies. This training is available to staff whose positions are funded under the citizenship and Immgration Canada  (CIC) and Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI).

Eligibility:

Position must be funded by CIC and MCI. Depending on the size of the agency, up to 7 people per agency in one fiscal year.

NOTE: Preference will be given to new applicants who have NEVER used the PET funding.

Employment Letter:

The Employment letter must demonstrate a direct connection between the competencies required to effectively do the job and the course/s chosen.

Individual

Staff who are eligible under these funded categories may apply for and, if approved, be reimbursed up to $750 upon completion of the approved course.

Organization

Agencies which are funded to provide these programs may apply for funds to deliver In-house Group Training designed to enhance roganizational capacity and knowledge sharing, and, if approved, be reimbursed up to $2000 (for facilitator's fees ONLY)

Coordinators and Managers

Coordinators and Managers in Enhanced Language Training (ELT) or Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) programs are also eligible for financial support.
