LearnAtWork is a collection of online learning courses created and hosted by OCASI. Many of the courses are online versions of in-class training that were offered by OCASI. Courses are self-directed and topics include working with clients and working with technology.

Positive Spaces Initiative's Online Training Course (also available in French)
This self-directed training covers how to more effectively serve LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and/or questioning) newcomers.
Employment Services - Training for Settlement Workers (also available in French)
This training is offered in a 'Facilitated' format as well as a 'Self-Directed' format. Targeted to frontline settlement workers who have little to no experience in employment counselling, it covers how to provide effective information & referral to newcomers in the area of employment. More especifically, it covers how to do a basic assessment of a client's employment needs, what are the available local and online resources, how to build partnerships with employment services, and how to make effective referrals to these services.
Journey to Promote Mental Health: A Training Series for Community Service Workers (also available in French)
These training modules address the issues of mental health and the unique challenges that immigrants and refugees face that may increase their risk of developing mental health difficulties. The training modules use a social justice approach and are based on holistic health framework. Guiding principles include mental health as a continuum, and a service approach with principles that include empowerment and capacity building; diversity and cultural competence; wellness and recovery; and community participation.
Serving Youth in Newcomer Communities
Currently this course is 'Facilitated' and is intended for workers looking to improve or create new youth services. Participants learn about the settlement challenges faced by newcomer youth in Ontario; the steps to address challenges identified and make settlement services for youth more effective; the inclusion model for sports and recreational programming; and good practice criteria and attributes of an effective program for newcomer youth.
Family Violence against Immigrant & Refugee Women: Community Development Strategies
This training is intended for immigrant service and other community-based organizations that are in a unique capacity to reach vulnerable and/or isolated immigrant women and their communities. It addresses the need to enhance domestic violence prevention strategies to reach immigrant and refugee women, including women without legal immigration status, trafficked women and women from racialized low-income communities.
Prevention of Domestic Violence against Immigrant and Refugee Women through Early Intervention
This training is intended for settlement service providers and anyone who frequently provides services to immigrants, refugees and undocumented women.
Newcomer Youth Settlement Guide for Service Providers: Serving Youth in Newcomer Communities
The OCASI Newcomer Youth Settlement Guide for Service Providers is intended as a guide and not as a definitive prescriptive document. It is the outcome of youth-led, community-based research carried out in collaboration with settlement workers selected from across Ontario. The document draws on some of the challenges and recommendations from existing research, however, most of the challenges and recommendations outlined were obtained from the suggestions and proposals made by youth and settlement workers during the OCASI Services for Youth in Newcomer Communities (SYNC) project research.
