This guide is provided by the CCR to assist member organizations in serving refugees and immigrants who are confronted with barriers as they attempt to reunite with family members.

The guide addresses:

  1. Children overseas separated from refugee parents in Canada;
  2. Excluded family members (s. 117(9)(d));
  3. Landing of refugees with family members whose files are not finalized;
  4. DNA testing;
  5. Beginning processing of dependants overseas of protected persons.

Each section has an overview of the issue, CIC policy on that particular topic (including a reference to the relevant CIC Immigration Manual), continuing problems and what you can do on behalf of affected clients.
