Contributing to the wiki

"Do nots"

  • Do not post any content that cannot be freely shared, downloaded, printed.
    • Instead, please link to such material or make a reference as to how others can find them.
  • Do not download any PDFs or Word Documents with Copyright restriction and deface them in any way.
    • Instead, contact the author to find out if you may use and re-use their material. Most authors and creators appreciate the contact, and will let you anyway.
  • Do not contribute any content to the wiki that you don't expect to be mercilessly edited by others, and possibly deleted.
    • Instead, also keep a copy of the material somewhere for your own purposes, and encourage people to mercilessly edit your content; improve it and share it.

"DOs"

  • If you are uploading material: Do inquire with the author or organization prior to uploading a document if there is a Copyright restriction;
  • If you are the author of material you want to upload: Do indicate you are releasing material for free use by the wiki under Creative Commons Share-Alike 3.0.

If you are the owner of Settlement At Work wiki-hosted content being used without your permission

If you are the owner of content that is being used on this wiki without your permission, then you may request the page be immediately removed. We will permanently remove the content (but it may take up to a week for the page to be deleted that way). You may also blank the page and replace it with the words {{copyvio|URL or place you published the text}} but the text will still be in the page history. We may need some evidence to support your claim of ownership.

wiki.SettlementAtWork.org (the “Wiki”) is operated by the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (“OCASI”), a non-profit organization.

Copyright for the text of the Wiki and copyright for documents on the Wiki

All of the text on the pages of the Wiki is released under the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada License (CC-A-NC-SA) unless otherwise indicated.

All content uploaded to the site retain its copyright. The availability of any particular content on this site does not mean that the holder of copyright in that content is licensing you to use that content. Please contact the rights holder directly if you require a license for its use.

Information for Contributors to the Wiki

By contributing content to this Wiki or altering content on this Wiki (the “Contribution”) you (the “Contributor”) agree to make your Contribution to the Wiki (and its users) publicly available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada License.

By uploading a Contribution to this Wiki you are representing that you are the rights-holder to the copyright in that Contribution or that you have permission from the rights-holder to upload the Contribution to, and make it publicly available on, the Wiki.

If you do not have the rights to make your Contribution publicly available on the Wiki under the CC A-NC-SA 2.5 license then you may not contribute that Contribution to the site, or make it available under any license at all, without the express permission of the rights holder.

If you contribute a Contribution to the Wiki for purposes of making your Contribution available to users of the Wiki, then you grant OCASI a worldwide license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform, and publicly display your Contribution (in whole or in part) on the Wiki. You also grant OCASI a worldwide license to create thumbnail images of the Contribution for the purpose of document recognition for users of the Wiki.

OCASI does not screen Contributions that are uploaded to the Wiki and you agree that you are solely responsible for all of your Contributions.

Information for Users

If you use any of the Contributions on this Wiki then you agree to abide by the terms of the [Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada License. You must provide credit to the authors by attributing the author and source of the Contribution, if available in the Contribution. If the author and source of a Contribution is not available, then you must attribute the Wiki as the source of the Contribution.

If you use any of the Contributions on this Wiki then you agree to abide by the terms of the copyright holder of the Contribution. This means that you must contact the copyright holder in order to obtain a license to use the Contribution for any purpose, unless your use falls under one of the exceptions provided for in the Copyright Act, R.S.C., 1985, c. C-42.

Copyright Infringement

OCASI respects copyright. Accordingly, a Contributor may not upload a Contribution to the Wiki unless the Contributor can represent that he or she is the author of the Contribution or has the authority to license that Contribution to the Wiki. If OCASI has been notified that a Contribution on the Wiki is alleged to infringe a third party’s copyright, OCASI will notify the Contributor of that Contribution and may request that the Contributor demonstrate their authority to license the Contribution or may request that the Contribution be removed from the Wiki. OCASI may itself, at its discretion, remove Contributions.

OCASI may suspend or terminate a Contributor’s access to the Wiki in circumstances that OCASI views as appropriate, including for any Contributor who uses the Wiki in violation of copyright law. If you believe your copyright is being infringed by a Contributor to this Wiki, please provide written notice to OCASI’s Copyright Agent for notice of claims of copyright infringement. Your written notice must:

  1. identify the copyrighted work alleged to have been infringed;
  2. identify the allegedly infringing material in a sufficiently precise manner to allow the Manager to locate that material, including providing the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) by which the material may be viewed on the Wiki;
  3. contain postal address, telephone number, and e-mail address by which the Manager can contact you;
  4. contain a statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted material is not authorized by the copyright owner, the copyright owner's agent, or the law;
  5. contain a statement that the information in the written notice is accurate; and
  6. contain a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner; and
  7. contain your physical or electronic signature.
